The Vilomah Gathering '26

Thursday, April 23, 2026 - Saturday, April 25, 2026

Exhale. Breathe. Breathe Again.

The Vilomah Gathering is a sacred retreat created for mothers who have experienced the loss of a child. Over three days, bereaved mothers come together in a compassionate community to rest, reflect, and gently rediscover the rhythm of breathing again.

Convened by Bishop Lisa M. Weah, the gathering creates a space where mothers can honor the lives of their children, share their stories, and be supported by a community that understands the unique journey of loving and grieving a child.

The Journey of the Gathering

Our time together unfolds as a thoughtful progression of care for the body, heart, and spirit.

Thursday Evening – Exhale

We begin by releasing what has been held inside. Through creative expression, reflection, movement, music, and fellowship, mothers are invited into a gentle environment of understanding and care.

Friday – Breathe & Process

Friday creates space for honest conversation, reflection, and spiritual renewal. Through prayer, restorative practices, and guided conversations, mothers process their journeys alongside others who understand the language of love and loss.

The evening concludes with a sacred gathering of worship led by mothers whose voices rise from the Vilomah community, followed by the Friday night message from Bishop Lisa M. Weah, creating space for reflection and spiritual renewal in God’s presence.

Saturday – Connect & Carry Forward

Our final day focuses on reflection, connection, and honoring the legacy of our children. Special sessions are offered for Vilomah dads and widows, acknowledging that grief touches the entire family.

The weekend culminates with the Legacy Luncheon, where stories of remembrance, advocacy, and continuing love are shared.

Who the Gathering Is For

The Vilomah Gathering is created primarily for bereaved mothers who have experienced the loss of a child at any stage of life.

Vilomah mothers may register one supportive female guest to attend the gathering with them. Special sessions on Saturday are offered for Vilomah dads and widows, recognizing that grief touches the entire family.

What Makes the Vilomah Gathering Different

The Vilomah Gathering is not simply a conference about grief—it is a carefully held space where mothers can gather in honesty, remembrance, and community.

Here, grief is not rushed or explained away. Love is spoken freely. Stories are honored. Silence is respected.

Within the Vilomah Village, mothers discover they are not alone.

Together, we learn—one breath at a time—how to breathe again.
